Center for
End of
Life Care
Richard Heinrich, M.D.
Center Director
Welcome to the Center for End of Life Care.

I am Richard Heinrich, the Center Director, and my job here is to lead and facilitate our inquiry into end of life care.  We are care givers and clinicians who work with families and persons with chronic, terminal or dementing illnesses.  I  invite you to participate.

The Center for End of Life Care is a community of health care professionals and caregiving individuals.  We engage in on-going dialogue on many aspects of the clinical, ethical, and legal issues that arise in caring for persons and their families at the end of life.

Our mission is to identify ways of understanding the impact of illness on the person’s autonomous and interpersonal functioning, and to identify social practices that support independence and choice at the end of life.
Our particular emphasis -- maintaining the competence of a person with illness – is informed by the application of Descriptive Psychology concepts.  You can read more about our area of focus here.

The Center is comprised of Associates , Participants, and Friends. Anyone who visits our website is a Frend,  welcome to browse the site and read our published papers. The Dialogues are created by Center Associates, and are open to Participants for viewing and response.  You can check out who we are here

As Center Director, I moderate Center dialogues, engage new Associates (who may also moderate dialogues), and help pull in other Descriptive Psychology expertise as needed.

I look forward to engaging with you. You can email me here.
